Leaving the room we discovered we had inspected every room on the entire fourth level, at least as far as we knew. We headed back to the ladder room and lowered Trot down by rope. The rest of us climbed down the ladder including Enalo back in goblin form. We traversed the werewolf and wolves room. Apparently no one had cleaned the room, man it smelled bad. We checked and opened the door and found a dining room and connecting kitchen. In the middle of the dining room were eight zombies eating a female body. I immediately launched a fireball into the middle of the zombies that got their attention. As soon as the first two zombies stepped up to the door Argent and Specere made their massive first attacks. Enalo followed by charging the nearest zombie as a rhino goring it with his horn. Trot on the other hand just reached over the top of Argent and Specere and grabbing the nearest zombie for a “death-roll”. Because no one entered the room and we held the door I launched another fireball into the room. Argent stepped into the middle of the zombie and preformed what he called a “Mithral Tornado” where he attacked all the zombies that were adjacent to him. The attacked looked devastating as two zombies dropped one was injured and one escaped unscathed. Specere made two attacks and killed the other two zombies Argent left alive. While we were busy attacking the zombies none of us noticed the female body get up and move forward. With all the zombies having been killed between the female and Argent she charged him hitting him with her rotting fist. Enalo stepped up and gored the female zombie dropping her in a pile of rotting flesh. Trot was too far back and couldn’t reach the last two zombies. Specere attacked hit one twice and it didn’t fall, it must have been of a tougher variety. I decided to shot it with a magic missile spell it remained standing. Argent attacked the other zombie with a solid hit. The last two zombies hit both Argent and Specere before Enalo gored one and Trot “death-rolled” the other. We inspected the bodies and nick-named the zombies FEDZ (flesh eating drow zombies) we also found a silver necklace with silver scorpion pincers.
The next room looked like it once was a living room. In the room were several more FEDZs along with two other groups of three, what we called, carcass eaters and wasting corpses. Specere and Argent held the doorway again attacking the wasting corpses first. Man did they stink. The wasting corpses and several carcass eaters attacked Specere and Argent. Specere and Argent dodged their attacks. One made the mistake of walking to close to Specere and Specere hacked it down. With the guys holding the door again I was able to launch a fireball into the room catching all the undead in a ball of fire. Another wasting copse fell from my blast. Rhino Enalo rushed one of the wasting corpses making a huge mess with its body. Unfortunately Trot was to far back and couldn’t reach the undead this round. Specere next victim was one of the FEDZs. Argent used his Mithral Tornado and hit all three of his intended targets. The remaining wasting corpse attacked Argent, who seemed unaffected by their horrible stench. I remembered later Argent doesn’t breathe. With only one wasting corpse and a couple of FEDZs I decided to hold my attack. Enalo and Trot stepped into the room each killing a FEDZ. The last FEDZ hit Argent before Specere finished it off. Inspecting the undead and the room we found the room had four huge tapestries a divan and a pair of statues that looked like gargoyles. I flew up and cut two of the tapestries down before my fling ability ended I have to remember to cut the other two tapestries down another time.
We decided we had expended our resources for the day and needed to camp. It was decided that the safest room to camp in was the werewolf room. We cleaned up the room and set up our watch. It has been a long time since we had to sleep in the ruins over night, but since we hadn’t found enough ancient artifacts or old ruins we chose not to blow the whistle. Argent stood all four watches with in order Trot, Enalo, Specere and me. In the morning I decided to memorize one identify spell. The item I chose to identify was the bracers. They only provided a little defense {Bracers of Armor +2} not near as good as my current mithril chain shirt. The only difference is the bracers won’t interfere with my spell casting. We packed up our camp and headed back to the living room and headed out the lone door. Behind the door was a 40-foot hallway leading to a door. I inspected the door for traps and detected two intelligent minds on the other side of the door. I told the guys and we prepared for battle. Argent opened the door and we saw a former bedroom now converted into a type of office. There was a desk, chair, carpet, a mounted lizard head, four urns and two pedestals with statues on them. Sitting at the desk was a living drow, probably a cleric, a skinny corpse and two fat corpses. First thing I did was walk into the corner of the room and launch a fireball into the enemies midst. The cleric seemed totally unaffected and pissed. He pulled out a scroll turned towards me and cast a spell. I felt my very soul being pulled from my body and through sheer force of will I pulled my soul back into my body. I knew I had just avoided another death. Argent charged my attacker with his devastating first attack followed by Specere’s devastating first attack. Not much can stand up to Argent and Specere opening attacks including the drow cleric. The skinny zombie cast a sonic spell at Argent damaging him and made a run for the far door. The two fatty zombies (FEDZs) attacked Argent and Specere hitting the former. Enalo as a rhino stepped out of the way for Trot. Trot didn’t disappoint, he grabbed hold of the FEDZ and crunched it for a decimated amount of damage. Not wanting to let the skinny zombie thing get away I hit it with a scorching ray. He dropped. Argent tumbled, I guess that’s what you call it, and killed the other FEDZ. Followed by the crunching sound of Trot finishing the last FEDZ. We gathered up the loot from the cleric and began searching the contents of the room. I assumed the guise of Inspector Gideon. The rest of the guys tried searching, but they’re not very through. Sewn into the cushion of the chair I found a small bag containing 18 gems. Enalo cast detect magic and said that the new necklace, full plate armor, heavy steel shield, morning star, scroll, mace and potion all were magical. We gathered up the treasure putting most of it in my bag of holding and head for the door out of the room.
