In addition to the four treasure chests there were four urns emitting a sickly sweet odor. What got our attention next were four cockroaches. These cockroaches were the size of a small horse. Apparently the cockroaches have a scent attack. This was news to me as they started trying to spray the group with aerosol attack. Good thing for me I’m nimble and was easily able to avoid the spray, couple of the guys inhaled the fumes and became sickened. The cockroaches, for all their size, were easy opponents. With the completion of the battle we happily when to inspect our new found treasure. All told we found 2500sp, 200gp, a medium sized humanoid ceremonial headdress, four black gems, a scorpion amulet and four clerical scrolls. We packed up the treasure and called it a day and headed back to the portal for some identifying of our items and a good nights sleep. The headdress made Enalo wiser and the scorpion necklace made me feel healthier.
We spend the next day in town resting up and enjoying our downtime. Early the following day it was back to the Ruins of Al-Anria. We had only two directions off the spinning hallway yet to investigate. We pressed the next to last symbol and the hallway spun to what I can only guess was southwest. The hallway opened up ahead us with a statue about 30 feet away with a hallway heading south from there. I approached the statue cautiously and searched for traps and secret doors. I found both. If you spin the arm one way it opened a secret door (right were I knew there was one when I searched the other side of the door) and if you spin the arm the other way it looked like it might release a poisonous gas. He chose not to spin the arm the other way and headed down the hallway to a door about 30 feet away. It appeared untrapped and Specere opened it. (It was decided the Specere would be a better person to open door since heal spells worked better on him). In the room was a trapped chest with nothing inside of it. So back to the spinning hallway we went. The last direction, as of yet unexplored, was east (I think). The hallway was 30 feet with a door at the end of it. I checked the door and pronounced it safe. Inside the room was an enormous large golden alter. On top of the altar was a Chalice with flames coming off and out of it. As we approached a huge fire elemental reached out of the chalice and began attacking us. Even getting close to this monstrosity was painful. We did the best we could to kill it as fast as we could. When we final finished off the elemental we noticed the walls were covered with tapestries. The tapestries were very old and now worthless, but I did find a secret door behind the north(?) wall. In the next room there was a recessed wall that happened to be a trap. Before I had a chance to inspect it for traps thoroughly someone set it off. A huge 10-foot section of wall came crashing down. Luckily we were all on our toes and jumped clear of the slab of falling stone. Behind the stone wall was a chest that contained 1000gp and 300pp. With this room we completed the entire third level. So we went back to the room with the ramp.
At the bottom of the ramp was a room with four large urns and a large sarcophagus in the middle of the room. The surprising part was that the urns glowed with magic. After much experimenting we found that if you put something in one of the urns it will magically teleport under the sarcophagus. The room also had one door heading north. We opened the door and found a very long hallway heading both east and west. We chose west because there was an opening in the hallway and a door just past the opening. Looking down the opening we saw a 30-foot hall that turned right. We figured since we were next to the door lets see what’s inside. What we saw was not natural. There was a strange creature with tentacles coming out of its stomach. We rushed into the room and proceeded to destroy the creature. Leaving the room we decided to follow the hallway we looked down. As the turn the hallway continued at least another 80 feet before it turned south. So we followed it. At the next turn the hallway continued another 80 feet to a door. Just as we started for the door what looked like hundreds of tentacles dropped from the roof and began trying to grab each of us. There might have been hundreds of tentacles but they were easily to cut. After a long battle the creature finally died from all the attacks we made on it. That makes two strange tentacled creatures on this level. On the other side of the door at the end of the hall was a large 60 by 60 foot room. In the room were four column and two urns. Our first thought was there might be more fire elementals. There weren’t. Searching the room I found a bronze scroll tube. Inside the scroll tube was a strange map with no scale and an “X” in the middle of one of the rooms. The map didn’t seem to match up with any of the areas we had explored yet. I’ll have to keep the map in mind as we continue to explore. In the room was another door that lead to a hallway heading north south. As we entered the hall a huge rock began rolling towards us. We stepped back into the room and the rock rolled right past us. We chose to go north after 40 feet we came across a door on the left wall. Inside the room was a beautiful drow slave girl lying on some straw. Specere immediately became infatuated with her and wanted to protect her. She looked at me and I felt a cold sensation run down my spine. Enalo was the next person to start acting strange around the girl. I decided to try and read the slave girls mind. At first I couldn’t hear anything. In the meantime she almost had several the group convinced it would be a good idea to escort her to what she called the mummy room. I played along with the group and suggested we should take her outside where it was safer for her. I decided to try reading her mind again. This time I was able to hear her thoughts. She wanted to get us attacked and killed so she could raise us as an undead army. I was getting desperate and tried to implant a suggestion that she should tell everyone what her plans were. Sure enough she started telling everyone that she wanted to get them killed so she could reanimate them for her new army. Everyone suddenly realized that she was controlling their minds except for Specere he was sure he was suppose to protect her no matter what. By the time I got everyone released from her control we were outside on the top of the pyramid. Argent was first to attack and laid a really solid hit on the slave girl. That was when she changed into a huge wormlike creature with tentacles. And the battle was on…
